Suzuki Kizashi 3

Suzuki says the Kizashi 3 foreshadows a four-door sports sedan that will join the lineup as Suzuki's flagship in 2010. Though much of Suzuki's current product lineup was designed by Daewoo or General Motors, we know their own designers can come up with great small cars -- if they do as well with the production version of the Kizashi 3, Suzuki could become a major player. About time.

Toyota FT-HS 2009

Toyota presented its new Concept, Toyota FT-HS a hybrid sport car. The Calty designed production version will have its debut in 2009. It seems that this new Concept will be over its predecessor, Supra.

The 2 seat Toyota FT-HS will have a gasoline engine (it might be a 3.5 liter, V6). I haven’t heard anything about the price and about the production number, but I think that this model will be a real success.

2009 Audi R8 V12 TDI Concept Preview

If Audi's not careful, they could become the poster company for conspicuous consumption, automaker style.

First they bring out the R8, with its 4.8-liter V-8, then the next thing you know there's talk of a 5.0-liter...and now, straight from the Detroit Auto Show, there's bluster about a V12 TDI.

Really. At some point you have to stop, even if you can keep going. Only problem is that this particular concept is quite a bit more than a good idea, and delivers all the power of a rocket ship with plus-20 mpg.

Audi reps said quite a bit about their diesel technology, but to be honest my eyes glazed over. All they really had to say was "500 horsepower and 737 lb.-ft. of torque" followed by "R8."

Volvo S40

German magazine AutoZeitung has published illustrations of what the next 2009 Volvo S40 could look like. There have been rumors that Volvo may kill the S60 model. If that happens the S40 could move slightly upmarket to fill the void left by the S60. This means the car could grow a few inches also. If this happens, the car could switch platforms from the current Ford Focus to the new Ford Mondeo platform.

These illustrations take many design cues from the XC60 SUV Concept that was recently unveiled. If these illustrations are close, the S40 could become a lot sportier than it is now and could become a great alternative to the 3-Series and new Merc C-Class.

Expect the car to come out either at the end of 2008 or early 2009.

2010 Toyota Supra

Gossips love concept vehicles, especially those that seem to belong in showrooms already. Take the Toyota FT-HS. Unveiled at the 2007 Detroit Auto Show as a "21st-century sports car," it reminded some of Toyota's well-liked Supra. And why not? It's another high-style sporty coupe with rear-wheel drive, a six-cylinder engine, and seating for four. Obviously, a new Supra was on the way, and with gas/electric power to boot. After all, FT-HS stands for "Future Toyota-Hybrid Sport."

2010 Toyota Supra Release on summer or fall of 2009--especially if a showroom-ready Supra "concept" appears at one of this winter's major auto shows. However, Toyota says its engineering staffs are now stretched to the limit by other new models planned for the next couple of years, so the Supra could be delayed.

Suzuki GSX 1000S Made In 1982

The Katana range established a tradition of converting concept bikes into reality that continues to this day with the recent introduction of the B King and the suggestion that the Stratosphere six will emerge as a production bike.

By the late seventies Suzuki's GS1000 was being pushed in the market place by revised models form Kawasaki and Honda. Suzuki's answer, given that the machines engine and handling were still among the best in its class was to adopt a radical styling concept. The new model incorporated a top half fairing that was integrated into the overall styling of the flowing bodywork.

Mechanically the engine and transmission remained little changed from the GS1000 and were housed in a conventional tubular steel cradle frame with pivoted fork suspension. The front forks were equipped with an anti dive system.
